Kereru and the next generation..
This Native Kereru came in from one of our local vet clinics that was found only able to hop about and not fly.
She was given fluids, pain relief and some good food to get her started and was reassessed the next day.
This beautiful native showed all the right behaviours we wanted to see so she was placed outside in an outdoor pre release aviary and given time to build up her strength.
Once she was strong enough to be released, a young lad and his mum came along and he was given the opportunity to release his first native specie back to the wild.
Compassion and empathy is where it's at, educating our children/next generation learning about native species and wildlife rehabilitation.
Well done on your first release young man.
