Gotta love a baby Pukeko!

This little cutie arrive at the beginning of January. He outgrew the chick nursery and graduated to an outdoor enclosure where he has been given time to develop some survival skills and adjust to the outdoor climate.

He has kept us well entertained with learning how to catch moths and bugs. He ended up in a stand-off with one of our chickens over a worm but won the battle (no fights, just bird arguing, lol) and went on to eat that worm! He has now graduated out to one of the supported living sites where he is being slowly introduced to other rehabilitated Pukeko. Once he has been accepted, he will free range out there and enjoy a happy Pukeko life.
